Hi everyone,
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out to our Welcome Back Social on Saturday. We had a perfect day for grilling and enjoyed each other’s company. Special thanks to Trisha Socias, Karla and John Byrnes (our Grill Master), and Marsha Ferguson for all of their efforts that made the event possible!
Community Outreach Fund: It’s time to share your suggestions for the Community Outreach Fund for this semester. As we do every semester, the Inclusion and Outreach Committee would like to ask all of you to suggest local nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with our theme, in this case, About Time. The committee will narrow down the suggestions to three, and all chorus members will then vote to choose one organization at the Fall Retreat on October 17th. We will then invite donations from our members as well as our audience at the winter concert. There is one change moving forward: we will no longer solicit donations from the audience and membership for two separate organizations. When we sing spirituals, we will donate $100 from our I&O budget to a chosen organization for the Negro Spirituals Royalties Project (see Chorus Handbook, p11, for more information), and all donated money will go to the organization we vote on. Please submit your donation suggestions using this form by Saturday October 10. Thank you!
Fall Retreat – Our Fall Retreat is Saturday, October 17th, 2026, 9:30am – 3pm, at Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church (314 Great Ridge Parkway, Chapel Hill). There will be a sign up sheet next week for you to sign up for an item to bring to our potluck lunch. More information to come. Please note that retreat counts as 2 absences. If you know you will be missing the retreat, please notify Laura Sam, your section leader, and your membership liaison in advance.
Shout-out: This week I would like to give the shout-out to Mia Prior! Mia is a member of the Public Relations Committee, and she has been working hard to publicize our upcoming concert by sharing announcements with the local radio stations, CVNC, Arts Orange, and Triangle Sings. Thank you, Mia, for helping to fill the seats at our performances. We appreciate you.
