Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your exceptionally focused work at rehearsal last night – great work! We accomplished so much, especially on “Your World” and “Now Let Me Fly.” Woot woot!
Next week we will make one more big push on Your World, tackling the remaining measures. This challenging piece is really coming together and already sounds gorgeous.

Sopranos, please bring any questions you have to our sectional rehearsal next week. Altos, great work during your sectional. We closed many gaps.
Rehearsal Reflection
Your World mm. 73-93, reviewed from the beginning
– S2s have the spotlight mm. 78-85 at their loudest (most beautiful) fortississimo singing. Everyone else should be a dynamic level lower, marked forte  in our scores. But it’s 3 against 1 here so we will need to be sensitive to that.
– m. 85 take a breath before “to”
– lift (quick breath) between each repetition of “to travel this immensity”
– note the different rhythms m. 89 and mm. 92-93
– note the dynamic contrasts throughout, especially mm. 72-77 – piano to forte
– S1 and A1 review your parts for mm. 22-45
Now Let Me Fly
– great work on mm. 85-88
– All A2s sing the A2 part, mm. 85-88 the first time through. Pay attention to tuning m. 88: “Zion” is Do for A2L and So for A2U – those are our two most important scale degrees for tuning.
– m. 68 is the only refrain ending that has a rit. All other refrain endings maintain the tempo.
– mm. 69-76 pay close attention to the accidentals, especially the difference between A-natural and A-flat. Keep those A-naturals high.
Swifter Than Flame mm. 47-end
– please note the tempo changes in this section
Flying
– we worked on the Eb bookends to this piece and finding our way back to Eb at m. 70
Flight Song
– We worked on mm. 16-19 and mm. 32-end
– we reviewed from the beginning
