Hello Everyone,
Thanks for a very enjoyable and productive rehearsal last night. We covered a lot of ground and WOW, things are really sounding great and coming together so nicely. What a treat for my ears (and hopefully, yours, too)!
Thank you for sending your solo auditions – those are due tomorrow if you would still like to send yours. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening!
I mentioned the Durham Community Sing opportunity that Rodney Wynkoop of the Durham Choral Arts Society (celebrating their 75th year!) is organizing. We can participate as individuals but if we have enough members interested can participate as Women’s Voices Chorus and, if so, have been invited to sing 1 piece on the afternoon concert. Currently there are 7-8 choruses that are performing 1 piece each – we have the opportunity to do the same. We would sing one of the pieces that we are currently working on so there would be no extra preparation or rehearsals.
Here is a link to the details – you can see the schedule, repertoire, and all other pertinent details so that you can make your decision.

I will need to know if you would like to participate by Monday, April 15th so that I can let Rodney know if WVC will perform. I will have an old-fashioned paper sign up sheet at rehearsal for the next 3 weeks so that you can sign up. If we don’t have enough to sign up as WVC, you will still be able to register as an individual.
Rehearsal Reflection
We covered the following:
– Now Let Me Fly – mm. 1-24, mm. 37-end, review all as time allows
– WIll the Circle Be Unbroken – all, including the repeats we will take
– Stand By Me mm. 57-end
– A Stór mm. 81-end (keep working on your Irish, please – it’s coming along!)
– The Times They Are A-Changin’ – mm. 37-41
– You Do Not Walk Alone – mm. 84-end
Looking Ahead to 4/1/24 (no foolin’!)
We will sing mostly from our mixed formation and just move to part circles if we need to drill pitches/rhythms
– I’m Beginning to See the Light mm. 54-end, review mm. 1-35, all as time allows
– Mo Ghile Mear – polish, clean up some inaccuracies in text and phrasing
– A Stór – all
– My Favorite Things – all
– Now Let Me Fly – all
– The White Rose – all
– ‘Tis the Gift to Be Simple – all
– You Do Not Walk Alone – all
– Stand By Me – all
I would like to sing all of our repertoire straight through on 4/8/24 – we will assess our strengths and weaknesses (hopefully, not too many of those!) as we move into our home stretch. We have two upcoming mixed sectionals on our schedule: 4/8 & 4/15, at 6:45pm. These sectionals are open to all singers – we will focus on your questions and anything the section leaders have noted needing our attention.
Here is the concert order if you would like to arrange your folders:
Will the Circle Be Unbroken

Swing Low: A Spiritual Medley
‘Tis the Gift to Be Simple
