Hello Everyone,
Thanks for a lovely rehearsal last night. I came home to a dark house (and neighborhood)…we finally had power restored this afternoon. I sure am spoiled…really appreciate having electricity!
Thank you for the chocolate chip cookies, Janet – they were delish!
Here is a link to the pronunciation for Prayer for Ukraine. I don’t know the choir director who posted it on Facebook but I am appreciative. And lucky us, we have Jasmine at rehearsal to be our in-person guide (thanks, in advance, Jasmine!).

I used three different sources for this arrangement. There were several text and pronunciation discrepancies, as well as some differences in opinion on harmonization, but I decided to settle on what I distributed last night.
This is what did not print at the bottom of the second page:

Rehearsal Focus:
Be Like the Bird
We improved our tuning by using drones of La and Mi as our guideposts….we will keep working!
How Can I Keep from Singing?
Consonants!!!! I was especially taken with the dozens of choruses I heard singing at ACDA last week – singing with such clear diction in a large hall while masked. We can do it, too! It is sooooooo exciting when (that is Hwen!) we do!
What the Heart Cannot Forget
Who has the most important part?!? Progress was made in working on our balance…all parts are NOT always equal!
She Who Makes Her Meaning Clear
The opening section really came to life last night. Great work! We WILL NOT be boring…our meaning WILL BE CLEAR! 🙂
O Sister
Very nice work on beginning each phrase with a rounded O. The gentle dynamics contrasts were lovely…such beautiful, sensitive phrase shaping. I love to hear you sing this piece (and everything else, too!).
Looking Ahead to 3/14/22
We will celebrate March birthdays!
Prayer for Ukraine
Sing My Child
Richer for Her
The Imaginary Garden
Song of Miriam
Mezzo Sectional
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. Don’t forget, a little “warbling” every day is a good thing!
Hugs,
Laura
PS: Sorry for the second email…I neglected to send the link for a beautiful performance of Prayer of Ukraine. Performance:

I may make one change in the arrangement I gave you…if I do, I will let you know at rehearsal.
Hugs,
Laura
