April 6, 2021, Music Notes

Hello Everyone,

It was so nice to see your lovely faces last night – thanks to all who were able to attend rehearsal.

Project updates:
I Started Out Singing – If you recorded for this project, please check the list at the end of this email to be sure that your name is included. If you recorded and I don’t have your name listed, please let me know ASAP. If all is correct, no need to email me.

Original e-mail: I am in need of images/videos of girls playing with or looking at their shadows. If you submit a video, I will mute the audio so it doesn’t matter what sound ends up on your recording. If you would please email the image/video to me ASAP I would appreciate it because I am working on the video for this project now. Here is an example of what I am looking for (picture)
Later update:I am working on the video design for I Started Out Singing and think that I will not need additional images…so put that on hold for now, please.

Some Glad Morning – videos are due 4/12. I think that one of the bigger rhythmic challenges in this piece is not holding out the eighth notes longer than their values so please be mindful of that if you are recording. I will look forward to hearing you sing!

Spring Concert  – We need members to record introductions of our pieces including introductions of the composers and poets. It would be wonderful to also have members reading the poems. If you would like to record, please let me know at rehearsal next Monday. If you are not going to attend the rehearsal but want to be involved, just send me an email. I will write out the introductions so you won’t be responsible for that. If you haven’t felt comfortable recording yourself singing, this is a chance for you to be an active part of the concert if you would like. These recordings will be due April 19th.

What the Heart Cannot Forget – videos are due 4/26 (solos and choral parts)

The Birds’ Lullaby – we most likely won’t record this for a virtual project but can enjoy singing it now in preparation for when we are back to singing in-person.

This is our final rehearsal before recording What the Heart Cannot Forget so we will tie up any loose ends.
I haven’t finished planning what else we will work on 4/19.

I am very excited to tell you that composer Jayne Swank (My River Runs to Thee) is going to join us during our rehearsal to talk to us about her inspiration for the piece and to give us insight into her creative process. I’m really looking forward to this fun opportunity!
