Hello Everyone,

So nice to see your lovely faces at rehearsal!

Please check the list at the end of this email to make sure that your name is on it if you recorded My River Runs to Thee and/or O Ignee Spiritus. Let me know if I have inadvertently omitted your name or if there are any other issues. I will consider ‘no news is good news’ so you don’t need to email if everything is as it should be. Thank you!

We spent the majority of our rehearsal in sectionals working on the last section of What the Heart Cannot Forget – mm. 58-end and reviewed all. You can use the guide tracks on our website to review on your own if you need to catch up. Pay careful attention to the length of notes (don’t hold them out too long!) and to the triplet rhythms. Thank you, section leaders!

We also worked through the alto and soprano solos of What the Heart Cannot Forget. Though labeled for S and A, if the solo is in your range, feel free to consider singing it. Two points to consider – you really need an engaging face when you sing a solo – lifted cheeks, flexible mouth muscles, and expressive eyes. You would need to memorize it so that you can look right into your camera when you record. You would submit the solo recordings the same way you regularly submit (you can submit both S and A if you would like, but please submit separate recordings). Please wear the same shirt/hairstyle for your choral recording and for your solo – otherwise it will look like you ran out for a quick change during the project video.

We also sang with the WVC recordings of My River Runs to Thee and O Ignee Spiritus (I finished that mix yesterday). It’s fun to hear ourselves. Yay us! Thanks to all who recorded – nice job!

I Started Out Singing videos were due today. I am taking the day off of editing audio tomorrow to give my ears a rest so if you want to submit you have extra time. I will start editing this one on Wednesday morning. I won’t be able to finish it in a day (I wish!!!!) so you have a little bit of wiggle room. By Wednesday night would be awesome – if it needs to be later than that, send me an email and I will tell you yay or nay depending on where I am in the mix.

Looking Ahead to 4/5/21
Some Glad Morning review – recordings are due 4/12/21.
What the Heart Cannot Forget – vowels and syllabic stress will be our focus – recordings are due 4/26/21.
The Bird’s Lullaby – we will work on parts but I don’t anticipate us recording this – depends on how long Some Glad Morning and What the Heart Cannot Forget take to edit.
