Hello Everyone,
Always great to see your beautiful faces at rehearsal – and as always, I look forward to when I can hear your voices in rehearsal, as well.
VIrtual project update:
My River Runs to Thee – glad you enjoyed hearing yourselves singing! Great job! I’m working on editing the video now.
O Ignee Spiritus – I am working my way through those files now. Thanks to all who recorded.
I Started Out Singing – Recordings are due 3/29/21
Concert Videos – Similarly to our February 5th concert, I would love to feature individuals in various ways – introducing our pieces (composers and poets) and reciting the poetry of our pieces – more information to follow. These videos will be due 4/5/21.
Some Glad Morning – Recordings are due 4/12/21
What the Heart Cannot Forget – Recordings are due 4/26 This is also the due date for the solos – upload solo auditions as you would any other recording – the form has a choice that indicates it is a solo video. If you are someone who likes to get things done super early, I would ask that you wait to rehearse this a bit more before you record, please.
If you have a look at the What the Heart Cannot Forget guide tracks (links posted on the WVC website), you will see that I skipped over the solo sections on the SSAA guide tracks so that you aren’t ‘on pause’ for so long in between the times that you sing. I made separate guide tracks for the solos. I think that it will be clear to you once you watch the videos but let me know on Monday night if you have any questions.
We spent most of Monday’s rehearsal working through pitches and rhythms, mm. 1-57 of What the Heart Cannot Forget, including the solo sections. At this point, our priority is being as rhythmically accurate as possible, paying special attention to the rhythmic differences of even eighth notes, triplets, sixteenth notes, and quarter-eighth note triplets. We will keep working!
We also reviewed and sang though Some Glad Morning and I Started Out Singing. Deb just sent me her recording today of I Started Out Singing. It is so wonderful to hear her expressive playing as opposed to the midi file. Yay Deb!
Looking Ahead to 3/29/21
What the Heart Cannot Forget sectionals mm. 58-74 and review all.

Looking Ahead to 4/5/21

(not sure what else yet for this rehearsal!)
Yay us!
