Hello Everyone!

I enjoyed our rehearsal last night – thanks to all who were able to be there.

If you missed our rehearsal, I am sorry to say that I did not record it so there is no rehearsal link to share. I left Zoom to restart my computer during the happy half hour and when I came back my Zoom didn’t automatically record since I was no longer the host….and so there you go. Sorry about that!

We did watch A Path to Each Other – our first completed virtual choir piece. Yay us! Thanks to everyone who was able to participate. I’m really excited about how it came together – hope you are, too. Here is the YouTube link:

Videos never play that well over Zoom (always sync issues!) so I encourage you to watch it from home. I also encourage you to share the link with your family and friends and to post it on your social media accounts. Our virtual choirs have the potential to reach well beyond our traditional concert audiences so let’s take advantage of this positive aspect of our virtual season.

If you recorded for the Angels of Mercy project, please check below to see that your name is included in the list. I don’t want to inadvertently leave anyone out so send me an email ASAP if I am missing your video because I need a final headcount before I complete the project template. Once I create the project template I won’t be able to add you in.

Our Rise and Stand videos are due on 11/2. Seems like we were in good shape and you feel ready for this one. I’m looking forward to hearing you sing since all I see are your mouths moving on Zoom! It’s so much better when I hear your voices, too!

Looking Ahead to 11/2

We will continue our work on Snow Angel which will once again include time in sectionals but also focus on whole group work as we move into the polishing stages of this repertoire. Come to rehearsal prepared to talk to your section leader about any rhythm/pitch challenging spots for you.

Kathleen Jasinskas will be our super star leader as she helps us sing in our higher ranges – whether you are an alto or a soprano, we’ll all learn about using our higher voices (it’s all relative!)

Around 9ish, I will take you on a whirlwind, behind-the-scenes tour of creating a virtual choir.

Looking Ahead to 11/9

We are nearing being ready to begin recording Snow Angel, so we will spend some more time in whole-group rehearsal to work on fine-tuning details.

We will spend the latter portion of our rehearsal in our Angel Gallery groups. The group I was in had a great time talking and brainstorming – such fun!

Looking beyond Snow Angel – Although we will probably not create virtual choirs beyond what we already have planned for this semester, we will explore our other Angels Among Us repertoire a few pieces at a time. We WILL sing all of our angel repertoire as a live-in-person concert in the future pandemic-is-behind-us world, and I am certainly looking forward to that day.

I had fun using the hyphen-linked-phrases in this email – just sayin’!

Cheers!
Laura
