Hello Everyone,
I have missed us (again) this week! I hope that you all are as well as can be in these challenging times.
I admit that I am sad that this is our tech week for our canceled concert on Saturday and that we are not together. But, then I remind myself that on that happy day when we are singing together again, our connection will be powerful, our music beautiful, our laughter sweet, and our sisterhood strong.
Yesterday I had a really fun time recording our canon for this week. Truly, I had more fun than you can imagine…well, maybe you can imagine after you see the video. I kind of wish I had a timelapse video of me making the video….in any case, please sing along!
Let Us Sing Together (The Quarantine Canon), you will find the music on page 21.
The text is:
Let us sing together,
Let us sing together,
One and all together in song.
Let us sing together,
One and all together in song.
Let us sing again and again,
Let us sing again and again,
Let us sing again and again,
One and all together in song.
Here is a preview of our January angel repertoire.
African Lullaby – Joan Szymk
Performance of African Lullaby
Two folk lullabies of African origin: The soothing African American song “Angels Watching Over Me” and “Abiyoyo” from the Bantu people of southern Africa. In “Abiyoyo” children entrance the bedtime monster with their singing, causing him to dance, at which point he is to be easily shooed away by watchful parents.
Please reach out to me, a board member, a section leader or anyone with whom you feel comfortable if you are in need. We are here for one another – sisters in song and in life.
Hugs (from afar),
Laura
