Hello everyone,

I am looking forward to our rehearsal and celebrating the holidays together after rehearsal at our holiday party.

  • Seating Configurations. Sisters’ Voices will be joining us for the first half of rehearsal. Kinley has worked hard to prepare seating configurations for each of our formations. I am attaching documents with the seating configurations for remaining rehearsals (“Rehearsal Configuration 26W“) as well as floor plans with these seating configurations in context at First Presbyterian (“Concert Configuration 26W“). We will begin tomorrow’s rehearsal in configuration #1 (Parts with Sisters’ Voices), move to configuration #3 (Mixed with Sisters’ Voices), and then finish rehearsal in configuration #2 (Mixed). We will set up the room with cards, but I thought it might be helpful for everyone to have the big picture.

  • Scarves will be available for purchase at rehearsal on December 15thWe are requesting a suggested donation of $12 per scarf. Payment can be made by cash, check, Venmo (@WomensVoicesChorus), or Square. We will distribute scarves before rehearsal starting at 7:10 and during break.
  • Holiday Party: At the end of rehearsal on December 15th, we will be having a winter social to enjoy each other’s company before the end of the year. Holiday attire (tacky or otherwise) is encouraged!  Please bring a snack or a non-alcoholic beverage to share.  Thank you.
  • Community Outreach Fund: As you know, we voted to support the Arise Collective with our winter concert, and since we are singing with Sisters’ Voices, we thought now would be a good time to support them as well. The Arise Collective‘s mission is to “equip women with the tools and support they need to heal, grow, and thrive, both in prison and in the communities to which they return.” Sisters’ Voices, beautifully led by our own Leandra Strope, encourages singers to know their voices and to know their power, which is what our winter concert is all about. If you are able and willing, you can support these organizations by donating to WVC (click on the One-Time tab to see ways you can donate) and earmarking your funds for whichever group you’d like to give to. Just put a note in the comment section when you donate. If you’d like to give to both organizations, be sure to specify how much goes to each group in the notes. If you prefer to give cash, please put your donation in the Inreach box at rehearsal and indicate if you would like your contribution toward a specific group, otherwise it will be split evenly between the two organizations.

Concert Information:

  • Concert Tickets: Tickets for our January 25 concert will be distributed by your section Membership Liaison at rehearsal tomorrow night. All ticket money and unsold tickets are due Monday, January 12. Please take a moment to read through the attached PDF describing our ticketing process and if you have additional questions, please contact Allison Mangin (allisonmangin@gmail.com).
  • Posters, postcards and business cards for our upcoming concert will be available at each rehearsal.  Please take and share with those who might be interested.
  • January 12 Concert: In case you need to purchase concert clothes … The first ‘tech’ rehearsal for our Winter Concert will be on January 12 at Carolina Meadows. This will be a full run through of the concert followed by rehearsal. We WILL be wearing our regular concert dress for this performance.
  • Program Ads: The deadline for Program Ads and Tributes is December 19th. Please consider approaching vendors you know well and asking them to support the arts in this way; it allows them to get their message to our loyal audience and brings our name into the community. It also helps us spread the financial support of the chorus beyond our members and families/friends, something most members say they would like us to do. Most importantly, with ads we can continue producing a hard-copy program, which is a valuable addition to our audience’s enjoyment of our concerts. This cannot happen if you do not ask. Prices have not changed from last season; please use the attached forms, which are also available on the Buy Ads and Tributes page of our website. If you have any questions, please reach out to Rebecca Bruening.

Zoom: If you need to attend rehearsal via Zoom, please remember to notify Laura, your section leader and membership liaison. You can join the Zoom Rehearsals here. Meeting ID: 858 3293 4624; Password: 121074.

Hope to see you all tomorrow!
