Singers,
1) Sectionals: We are starting our regular rehearsal tomorrow, November 3 with sectionals. Sopranos will meet in the choir room in the new building and should go directly there. Altos will meet in the usual location.
2) Contacting Laura: Laura is using the director@womensvoiceschorus.org address. Be assured that if you send something to that address, it will go to her no matter what name shows up on your device. The name that your computer/tablet/phone shows is not something we have control over. If at some point in the past you saved that address with Allan’s name, that is what you may see. The easiest way to change that is to delete the address from your contacts and then add it back with Laura’s name or a more generic Artistic Director. It still may take several emails for your device to recognize the new name.
3) Attendance: A gentle reminder from our Attendance Policy as we enter cold/flu season – There may be times when unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance. In these rare instances, no more than four absences will be permitted during the Fall/Winter semester and three during the Spring semester. Retreats count as two rehearsals for attendance purposes. Technical rehearsals are mandatory. In the event that a member is absent from a technical rehearsal, or exceeds her allotted absences, she will not be allowed to perform in the concert unless prior approval has been received from the Artistic Director.
If an absence is necessary, please notify Laura Sam at (336) 263-7754 or director@womensvoiceschorus.org, your Section Leader and your Membership Liaison.
Women who are too sick to sing, but well enough to attend rehearsal are welcome to sit in a separate area of the rehearsal space and follow along with their music. This will not count as an absence. If you must miss a rehearsal, be certain to speak with your Section Leader and Membership Liaison to review any directions or other information you may have missed.
4) Donations: What a generous and supportive ensemble we have. Please, consider becoming a sustaining member as an easy way to give in a steady, supportive way. Donations to WVC
5) Dues : Second Payment: Your second dues installment of $50 will be collected on or before Monday, November 4. Please hand your cash or check to Karla at rehearsal or pay online with a credit card here: Partial Dues: https://squareup.com/store/womens-voices-chorus/item/season-dues. If you aren’t sure if you’ve already paid for the whole year or if you would like to make special arrangements for dues, please contact Karla (kmkbyrnes@gmail.com).
6) Concert Program: It’s time to start beating the bushes for concert program ads. Soliciting concert ads is an easy and profitable way to help Women’s Voices. Generally you will get the best response from a local business that you support, or one where you have a personal connection. Selling points are that the ads are very reasonable and it’s a captive audience. At times a chorus member has purchased an ad for a business that she wants to support, thereby benefiting two birds with one check. An ad could be a nice gift for your favorite non-profit or someone you know trying to start up a business.
Best –
