Dear Singers,
Please read the announcements below:
There has only been one additional COVID case since Friday so we have decided to have in-person rehearsal tomorrow night as well as sectionals for A1s and A2s at 6:45 PM. It is highly recommended that we all wear masks and space out a little. If you recently tested positive for COVID or are experiencing any symptoms, please do not attend rehearsal in-person to protect our community. The Zoom link will be available. A1 sectional will be with Kay across the street and A2 sectional will be in our usual rehearsal space. Thank you all for your cooperation.
WVC Fall Retreat – Once again, many thanks to all of you for making our virtual retreat a success. A lot of planning went into organizing the Fall retreat and we appreciate everyone’s flexibility when plans were forced to change so abruptly. Many thanks to the Diversity Committee (Rachel Bowman-Abdi, Leandra Strope, Sue Gidwitz, Caryl Price) for planning a thought-provoking activity and for all of their hard work to date!
Tour Emails – Jackie is sending tour-specific emails using a separate Google Group including only those going on tour. Several members have reported that these emails have been going to their spam email folder. If you should be receiving the Tour emails and are not, please check your spam folder and if they are not there, please let Karla and Jackie know. All Tour announcements will be sent via this mechanism.
Table Sales –Congratulations to our Fundraising Team! Last Monday we had our first WVC Table Sale through which we raised $601.00! Thank you all for participating. Special thanks to Ellie Sheridan, Amie Tedeschi, Shipra Patel, Jackie Walters and Anne Menkens for all of their efforts. Several members have asked about future Table Sale dates: November 20 (Holiday Hoopla), February 19 (Heart of the Home), April 22 (Summertime’s Calling Me). All of our upcoming fundraisers are listed on the WVC website in the Members Section under 2024 Ireland Tour/Fundraising Details.
Pecan Sales – you should have already received an email describing the fundraiser, but just in case, we are starting our Pecan & Candy Sale! Please consider purchasing items for yourself or as gifts to support Women’s Voices Chorus. We are ordering from Elizabeth’s Pecan Products — from a farm established in 1981 by a USN captain, called Capt’n Bundy’s Pecan Farm, in Turkey, NC. They sell it to us wholesale, with no taxes or shipping costs to pay, so we will get a nice amount from each unit sold. Plus, we’ll all get some delicious food for our holiday celebrations!
Print out the attached friends and family form to collect orders. Then submit the orders using the attached fillable pdf (“2023 WVC Pecan”) – either fill it out electronically and submit by email to ajmenkens@yahoo.com, or print and get it to one of us (Anne Menkens or Kay Johnson) at rehearsal. These forms will also be available on the Tour Fundraising page of the website here (you need to be signed into the member site first): https://womensvoiceschorus.org/2024-ireland-tour/2024-tour-fundraising/
Orders must be submitted by either November 6 or December 4. Complete instructions are on the attached forms, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions!
SPES Pronunciation Practice File – Virginia Kraus has recorded pronunciations for SPES and Karla has uploaded them to the pronunciation tab of the practice files page on the website. Thank you both.
