Hi everyone,

I am looking forward to rehearsal tomorrow night and hope you are too! As a reminder, we will start rehearsal split into sectionals:  the A1 and A2s will be with Kay and Deb in the regular rehearsal space and the S1 and S2s will be in the choir room located in the newer building across the street from where we rehearse (enter through the side door of the building). For the second half of rehearsal, the sopranos will rejoin the altos in our regular space.

Fall Retreat:  Saturday, October 19th, 2024, from 9:30am – 3pm. Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church located at 314 Great Ridge Parkway, Chapel Hill. Please use the link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4EAFAB2EA2F9C07-51615990-winter, to sign up for an item you are planning to bring.

Shout-out:  This week I would like to recognize Kinley Russell, our Logistics Chair.  Kinley does an incredible amount of work on behalf of the chorus for which we are very grateful – – arranging for our rehearsal space, setting up and breaking it down each week, identifying locations for each of our retreats and performances and coordinating teams of volunteers who make it all happen.  Thank you Kinley!

Zoom: If you need to attend rehearsal via Zoom, please remember to let Laura, your section leader and membership liaison know. You can join the Zoom Rehearsals here. Meeting ID: 858 3293 4624; Password: 121074.

See you tomorrow night 😊

Janet

PS I forgot to include one time-sensitive announcement from the Diversity Committee

Community Outreach Fund:   On the Diversity Committee’s suggestion, the board has elected to build on the success of last season’s Negro Spirituals Royalties Project with an ongoing Community Outreach Fund. We plan to donate to one local nonprofit organization each season, and we will choose this organization based on the music we are singing. Each semester, the Diversity Committee will solicit suggestions from all WVC members and then make a recommendation to the board. To our chosen organization, we will donate a base amount of $100 from the WVC budget and set up a way for chorus and audience members to contribute more if they wish. We’d love to hear from you! Please submit your ideas for a nonprofit you think would be a good fit for this season’s theme, Singing and Dancing the Earth Alive, using this form. You are also welcome to speak to any member of the Diversity Committee at rehearsal. Please make your suggestions by Saturday October 12.
