Hello Everyone,
Happy Fall! I really enjoyed our rehearsal last night – hope you did, too!
Rehearsal Reflection
We covered all of the measures concentrating primarily on pitches and rhythms – great job everyone! I know there are a few ‘question notes’ and we will make those corrections next time we rehearse the piece(s).
Love is Welcome Here – Catherine Dalton
Sang the whole piece in mixed circles – beautiful!
Sparks of Divinity – Lana Walter
mm.1-24 pitches and rhythms review
mm. 25-40 rhythm only
You may find it helpful to write in the measure subdivisions, especially on the asymmetric measures.

m. 29: 3+2+2
m. 33: 2+2+3

To Sit and Dream – Rosephanye Powell
mm. 1-34 50-63 – We worked on a very blended sound, making sure that the notes of the chords were well-balanced. We have a few incorrect pitches and we will fine tune those next time. We will also need to work on our entrances – most phrases begin after a 16th rest and we are consistently late.
Spes (Hope) Mia Makaroff
mm. 1-26, 59-72
We sang the yoik-like section on the neutral syllable ‘dee’ and reviewed the Latin sections. It’s really coming together nicely!
Through the House Give Glimmering Light – Amy Beach
mm.1-85
Especially on the ‘echo sections,’ mm. 42-51, 59-67 it will be really important to recognize when you are singing a pitch that another section just sang and to tune those as closely as possible. It truly sounds magical when it happens!
Tundra – Ola Gjeilo
mm. 1-27
Blending our voices will be crucial to the success of the piece as we paint a soundscape.
Mah Dodech Midod – Eleanor Epstein
mm. 1-31
Good job on these notes and rhythms! We will add the Hebrew text next time.
Big Dogs, Music, and Wild, Wild Women – Ruth Huber
mm. 1-65
Such fun! Let’s make sure that we can hear the mezzo’s part mm. 19-24.
Chamber Choir
Ikan Kekek – Tracy Wong
mm. 1-24
Wonderful job on these notes and rhythms and text, too!
The Bird’s Lullaby – Sarah Quartel
mm. 1-28
Nice work! Watch when you have a single ‘doo’ across two notes – might need to circle those.
Looking Ahead to 10/2/23
Deb will be away doing a fun thing – we will miss you, Deb!
I Started Out Singing – Jocelyn Hagen
