Community Outreach: Each semester, the Inclusion & Outreach Committee (formerly known as the Diversity Committee) solicits suggestions for a local nonprofit organization to which we can donate. Their work should align with this semester’s concert theme, “Rise Up!” They should ideally be small and local, and groups you’re involved in are especially great. Please submit your suggestions using this form or let any member of the Inclusion & Outreach Committee know at rehearsal, by Saturday, October 4. The Inclusion & Outreach Committee will narrow the choices, and all chorus members will vote to make the final selection at the October retreat. Thank you for your participation in this important process.
Upcoming Fundraising Opportunities: There are several fundraising efforts in the works for this year that may be of interest:
1) Sustaining Donor Program – commit to give monthly, quarterly, or annually.
2) Pecan Sales for the holidays – income raised from the sales will be used to replenish our tour fund. Tours help us grow as a chorus by learning more about women’s singing traditions and sharing our own repertoire around the world, and by increasing cohesion within our group.
3) Table Sales – in-kind donations are sold and income raised from these sales will help to cover the increasing cost of rehearsal space.
Shout-out: I would like to recognize the WVC Board for all their hard work to make this season possible. This week’s ‘Shout-out’ goes to Anne Menkens, who volunteered to apply for the Grassroots Arts Program grant and was successful in procuring $3,750 from the Orange County Arts Commission to help fund our joint concert with Sisters’ Voices in January.
