Welcome Back Social: Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at our 2nd Annual Welcome Back Social. We had a beautiful day to relax, enjoy each other’s company, and share a wonderful meal. A special THANK YOU to Trisha Socias for planning the event for all of us to enjoy!
Concert Dress: This information can be found in the Chorus Handbook, which is available on our website. Concert dress is all black, from collar to toe: Black tops (3/4 length sleeves or longer) – no beads, sequins, netting, lace, velvet, etc. Black floor-length dress pants or skirts (no patterns, velvet, ruffles, or tiers). Black opaque stockings/tights/socks and black closed-toe shoes. No necklaces, dangling earrings (post earrings only), or flamboyant accessories. No perfume or other scents. This year, we will be wearing brand new, custom-made, solid-colored ‘WVC blue’ scarves during our concerts. Scarves are to be worn around your neck, loose or tied however you choose. WVC will provide the scarves for a suggested donation of $10.
Community Outreach: Each semester, the Inclusion & Outreach Committee (formerly called the Diversity Committee) solicits suggestions for a local nonprofit organization to whom we can donate. Their work should be aligned with this semester’s concert theme, Rise Up! They should ideally be small and local, and groups you’re involved in are especially great. Please submit your suggestions using this form or let any member of the Inclusion & Outreach Committee know at rehearsal, by Saturday, October 4. The Inclusion & Outreach Committee will narrow the choices, and all chorus members will vote to make the final selection at the October retreat. Note that because we are singing spirituals this semester, we will also be donating a minimum of $100 to Kidznotes for our Negro Spirituals Royalties Project. Chorus and audience members will be able to donate to either group throughout the semester and at our concert in January. Thank you for your participation in this important process.
