Hi everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed this beautiful weekend and the extra day off (for some)! Tonight’s announcements will be short with just a couple of reminders for next week.
It was wonderful to see everyone at our first rehearsal last Monday. We held auditions last week and look forward to welcoming our newest members next Monday. Thank you all for welcoming our guests – your welcome was much appreciated. Laura shared with me an email that she received from one of our guest singers who decided not to audition because she was looking for more of a soft jazz vibe:
“I just wanted to send you and all of the Women’s Voices Chorus a heartfelt thank you for the invitation to Monday’s rehearsal. I’ve sung with several choirs over the years (most recently the Duke Chapel Choir), and I can honestly say the welcome I received from WVC was unparalleled. From the quick and thoughtful email communication to the warm greeting at rehearsal (and even the assignment of a buddy!), the entire experience felt like being wrapped in a hug. Thank you for that. It’s clear you’ve built something very special here.”
Welcome Back Social: Mark your calendars! Please plan to join us for a Welcome Back Picnic Social on Saturday, 9/13/25, starting at 11 am, at Solite Park in Durham (4704 Fayetteville Rd, Durham, NC 27713). Families are invited to join us during this event! Please RSVP using the following link. When you RSVP, please indicate in the comments if you will be having a Beef burger or a Veggie burger. If RSVP’ing for multiple people, please indicate for your whole group. There is a suggested donation of $5 per attendee. You can use Square (https://womens-voices-chorus.square.site/) or Venmo (@WomensVoicesChorus) to donate, with the memo “Picnic.”
****Rehearsal Parking Options: Two lots comprising 66 parking spaces are associated with the church (there are more than 66 members). On any given Monday some of these spaces may be taken by church administrators and/or Lutheran Campus Ministry students, who have 24/7 access to the building. The church has asked us to park in designated spaces only. Please respect church policy on this point and be certain to never block any parked car. Last week, there were two cars parked illegally making it very difficult to exit the parking lot and creating unsafe conditions. If the lots are full, you can park in the Morehead Planetarium (across Franklin Street) by obtaining a $1 temporary one-night pass through the ParkMobile App, ParkMobile phone number, ParkMobile website, or a designated weeknight pay station. See www.parkonthehill.com for more info. We highly encourage carpooling! Kinley has created a carpool map that is on our website. You must be signed in as a Member. Click on Chorus and Board Info and find the link for Carpooling Map. Ask someone who lives or works near you if she would like to share a ride. Also, if you have a handicap tag, please try to park in one of the handicap spaces so that they do not go to waste. If you need a prime spot for access purposes, please plan to arrive early. The doors will be open no later than 7:00pm.
See you all Next Monday!
Janet
