Hi everyone,

All Altos Sectionals: Tomorrow night from 6:45-7:25PM.  Bring your questions!

Concert Tickets: Tickets for our May 2nd concert were distributed by your section Membership Liaison at rehearsal on March 16. All ticket money and unsold tickets are due Monday, April 27. Please take a moment to read through the attached PDF describing our ticketing process, and if you have additional questions, please contact Allison Mangin (allisonmangin@gmail.com).

Community Outreach Fund: Please submit your suggestions using this form or let any member of the Inclusion & Outreach Committee know at rehearsal, by tomorrow night, March 23. The Inclusion & Outreach Committee will narrow the choices, and all chorus members will vote to make the final selection at the April retreat. Note that because we are singing spirituals this semester, we will also be donating a baseline of $100 to Kidznotes for our Negro Spirituals Royalties Project. Chorus and audience members will be able to donate to either group throughout the semester and at our concert in May.

Program Ads for the Spring Program: How can I do my part to ensure we have hard copies of our concert programs each season and generate needed revenue from outside of our membership?  Start talking to your favorite businesses now about supporting our organization and spreading the word about their business by placing an ad in the spring 2026 program. What kinds of businesses should I talk to? Any! Some previous examples include small businesses like restaurants, hair salons, pet kennels, and local musical organizations, as well as financial advisory firms and retirement communities. Get creative! You never know who will buy until you ask. How do I approach a business to sell an ad? It seems, well, scary…You can do it! Try starting by sharing how much you like their business. What do I tell them about WVC? How great WVC is, and that program ads support our mission and spread the word about local businesses. Each year, WVC serves more than 600 area residents with live music performances. Then what? Share the ad form with them and ask them to submit it by April 4. If you can, send Rebecca a quick email (rebecca.bruening@gmail.com) to be on the lookout for their form. That’s it! All forms, ad copy, and money should be in by April 4Talk to Rebecca (rebecca.bruening@gmail.com) with any questions!

Nominations for Board Positions: If you are interested in joining the Board, please contact a member of the Nominating Committee: Kay Johnson, Chair, A1 2ndalto@gmail.com, Brystana Kaufman, S1 brystana@gmail.com, and  Caryl Price, A2 cstprice@gmail.com , to have your name added to the ballot. The following positions are open for election: President, Vice President, Inclusion and Outreach Chair, Membership Chair, Fund Development, and Public Relations Chair. Nominations are open through April 2 and elections will be held on Monday, April 20.

We are seeking dedicated and collaborative volunteers to serve on the WVC Board and the Nomination Committee has asked me to describe two of the Board positions in more detail.

Fund Development Committee Chair—a vital role that helps ensure the continued success and sustainability of WVC. This position focuses on developing and securing the funds needed to support our mission. While the scope may sound broad, you will not be expected to do this alone. A key part of this role is building and guiding a team, with many responsibilities designed to be shared or delegated among committee members and volunteers. As Chair, you will provide leadership and coordination across several important areas:

Planning: Develop and carry out an annual fund development plan based on budget needs and contribute ideas to support long-range organizational goals
Grants (can be delegated to a Grant Committee): Identify and research grant opportunities, collaborate with leadership to align grant proposals with organizational priorities, oversee preparation, submission, and reporting for grants (with editing support provided)
Donations: Coordinate the creation of solicitation letters for fundraising campaigns
Donor Engagement: Help build meaningful relationships with donors and sustaining supporters and implement recognition efforts such as thank-you notes and program acknowledgments
Fundraisers (can be delegated to event leads): Support planning and execution of fundraising events for special projects and empower volunteers to take ownership of individual events
Program Advertising (can be delegated to an Ad Manager): Oversee coordination of concert program advertising and recruit and support volunteers to secure ads and manage logistics
Whether you bring experience in fundraising or simply a willingness to organize and collaborate, this role can be shaped to fit your strengths—with plenty of support along the way.

Public Relations (PR) Committee Chair—helps create an engaging public presence and share information about our concerts, events, and mission with the community. In this role, you’ll lead and coordinate efforts across publicity, communications, and outreach, while working closely with other committees. The key responsibilities include:

Design Coordination (can be delegated to a Graphic Artist Liaison): Provide content and direction to graphic artists for promotional materials (flyers, postcards, programs, ads), with final review by the Editing Committee
Content Development & Media Outreach: Help oversee creation and distribution of press releases, email newsletters, radio ads, social media posts, concert program content, and community listings; coordinate media contacts and coverage
Editing Oversight: Manage the Editing Committee, which reviews all public-facing materials for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
Production: Oversee distribution of printed materials and email communications
Website: Coordinate updates and improvements to website content (can be delegated to a Website volunteer)
Social Media: Guide and expand WVC’s online presence (can be delegated to a Social Media volunteer)
Outreach: Partner with the Inclusion & Outreach Committee to increase visibility at community events and build relationships with other organizations

You won’t be expected to do everything yourself. These roles are designed for delegation and teamwork, with many responsibilities shared among volunteers.

Shout-outs: I would like to give shout-outs to Mariah Hoye, for continuing to create beautiful graphics for our concerts, Mia Prior, for coordinating radio ads for our concerts, and Doris Sigl, for managing performance and streaming licensing for our concerts. Thank you all for your efforts and commitment to WVC!

Zoom: If you need to attend rehearsal via Zoom, please remember to notify Laura, your section leader and membership liaison. You can join the Zoom Rehearsals here. Meeting ID: 858 3293 4624; Password: 121074.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night
