Hello Everyone,

Thanks for your focused work tonight on our music. I apologize for not covering as much ground as I had intended – I definitely spent more time working on Will the Circle Be Unbroken than I had budgeted – BUT we did make wonderful progress, especially singing in tune! Hooray! It’s already so much fun to listen to.

Thank you for the beautiful birthday singing! Happy birthday to all of the February birthdays!

I am going to make this email short because it’s late and I need to be up at the crack of dawn to travel to KY for the Southern Division Regional American Choral Directors Association Conference….so I hope you will understand my abbreviated notes.

Rehearsal Reflection:

We covered pitches and rhythms, phrasing and some dynamics on the following:
Will the Circle be Unbroken mm. 1-33 (mm. 18-25 3-part divisi, please)
Swing Low mm. 1-41
Now Let Me Fly mm. 1-28
The Times They Are a-Changin’ – mm. 1-36

Looking Ahead to 2/26/24

I have included the measures previously rehearsed and added a new section for each piece … or the first section of the pieces on which we are just getting started.
The White Rose mm. 1-34
I’m Beginning to See the Light mm. 1-27
‘Tis the Gift to Be Simple mm. 20-39

Congratulations to the singers who auditioned and were selected for Chamber Choir – it’s going to be a super ensemble and I know we will have a great time working on our music! We will sort out our best balance of parts at our next rehearsal, so thank you in advance for your flexibility in switching parts, as needed. Thanks to those who already have offered – much appreciated!

Down By the Salley Gardens mm. 1-39
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy mm. 1-48

I hope to learn lots and make meaningful connections this coming week – I will share with you what I learn!

Best,
Laura
