Dear Singers,
Lots of information to help make our rehearsals and concert go smoothly:
Tech Rehearsals:
a. Time and Location: Both tech rehearsals are from 7:00-10:00 pm. and are required. Our first tech rehearsal is on Monday, Jan. 13 at University United Methodist Church (UUMC). Our second tech rehearsal is on Thursday, Jan. 16 in our usual rehearsal space at Holy Trinity.
b. Parking: The UUMC parking lot should be used ONLY by people with a handicap placard; additional parking info is available at: https://universityumc.church/parking/. Be sure to give yourselves plenty of time to arrive, park, and get settled in so we can start on time. Please keep the second row of pews open for our guest group from Carrboro High. Use pews further back for coats and belongings. Food and drinks other than water are NOT allowed in the Sanctuary. Please plan accordingly.
c. Setup/Cleanup Help: We will need to move almost all of the chairs from the choir loft to the hall immediately behind it. If you can help, please arrive by 6:15 p.m. We will also need some people to stay after rehearsal to return the chairs to their original location.
d. Tickets: All unsold tickets and money from ticket sales should be returned in your envelope to your membership liaison or to Allison Mangin (S2) at our first Technical Rehearsal on January 13. Allison can answer any questions you may have. Tickets will be available for sale online through Jan. 16 and at the door on concert day.
e. Scarves: Pauline will have scarves for borrowing or buying ($10) on Monday, Jan. 13 and Thursday, January 16. Make sure you have the correct color scarf (winter or all-season). Concert dress requirements are in the Chorus Handbook.
f. Folders: If you haven’t already, please get a black concert folder from Sue Regier and have your music in concert order before rehearsal starts on Monday, Jan. 13. As we did last year, you will be loaned a folder for the season, to be returned after our final performance. You may use your own folder if you have one as long as it looks identical to a ‘Standard Black Folder.’ If you are not returning in spring, please return borrowed folders immediately after the concert.
Concert:
a. Special seating or parking: If you or your guests need special seating or parking for the concert, please let Cheryl know no later than Thursday, January 16 (sooner if possible.)
b. Ushers: We need a few more ushers for the concert. They will need to be there from 2:00 p.m. until shortly after the concert starts at 3:00 p.m., at which time they can morph into audience members. All workers will be given comp tickets. Any help they can give after the concert cleaning up is also appreciated. Please let Cheryl know if you can enlist someone to help: cheryl.white.denardo@gmail.com, phone 510-213-3494.
c. Call time: Please be in the choir loft and ready to sing by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18. Your belongings can be stowed in the pews until after warmups/run-throughs. At that time everything should be moved to our green room. The green room will be locked during the concert.
Listening Party: Join us for our post-concert Listening Party PotLuck to celebrate our Winter Concert on Monday, January 20 (the Monday after the concert) at 6:30pm! Shelley H (S2) has graciously offered her lovely home at 800 Shady Lawn Road in Chapel Hill, 27514. There is parking along the street but we encourage carpooling. Please leave the driveway free for those who have limited mobility as the street and driveway are hilly. In planning on what to bring, please bring your dish ready to serve with whatever serving utensil is needed. We don’t want to raid Shelley’s kitchen for serving dishes and utensils! We will provide non-alcoholic beverages but please bring anything else that you want to drink! As always, if you have dietary restrictions, bring something you can eat. Please contact Meg (midwifemeg@yahoo.com ) with any questions.
See you all on Monday!
Kay Johnson, WVC President
