Dear Singers,

It’s Concert Month!  Hope everyone has been reviewing their music and is ready for the final push as we prepare to share our concert with our audience and celebrate 30 years of Women’s Voices Chorus.  For your convenience, I have attached the music in concert order so you can organize prior to rehearsal if you haven’t already and the mixed seating arrangement which has undergone a few minor changes. Please be flexible if there are issues with sightlines.  In the performance space, we will be on risers which will likely alleviate the issues and if not we can make adjustments at that time. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Concert Tickets – Ticket prices: Adult: $20, Student: $10, Group: $15 (Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more.) Mark the type of ticket sold on both the ticket and stub. Do not tear the stub. Payments:
1)      Make checks out to ‘Women’s Voices Chorus’.
2)      If you would like to pay for presale tickets online, you can do so at our square store (preferred) or by paying with Venmo (@WomensVoicesChorus) or PayPal (treasurer@womensvoiceschorus.org): Have ticket purchasers pay you directly and pay the total from your account. Add a note to the online payment that it is for presale tickets and include your name. Note that payment was made online on the ticket envelope.

You may return money and/or unsold tickets in your ticket envelope to Allison or your Membership Liaison at any rehearsal. Please mark your envelope with the number of tickets sold and amounts in the spaces provided. All unsold tickets and money are due on Monday, January 22.

E-news – Thanks to our PR team, we have our latest e-news that was distributed earlier this evening via email.  Please spread the word about our concert to family and friends.

Trianglesings – Our PR committee has been working hard to promote our concert.  Please take a moment to visit Trianglesings on Facebook and Instagram and “Like” our concert announcement and share it to your page if you are a FB user.  Thanks.

Registration for Spring Semester – In preparation for our next season, we are asking all members to indicate if they will be continuing to sing with us. Please take a minute (literally) to fill out the registration form before January 22.  Here is the link: https://forms.gle/ZhY8UTPoA5esYRGK8. This will make our preparations much easier.  Thanks in advance.

Diversity Moment – Based on ideas from the survey responses, the Diversity Committee plans to include a short paragraph in our email announcements every now and then, just as an opportunity for reflection and knowledge sharing about diversity related issues. Today’s diversity moment highlights the work of WVC’s founding director Mary Lycan in making repertoire for and by women better known. Mary founded the Treble Clef Music Press and researched historical spaces where women’s choral music was particularly valued. In one of her talks, “Real Repertoire for Women’s Choruses,” she described the 19th-century Frauenchor for whom Brahms wrote so beautifully. (I won’t quote it all here, but I encourage you to read the short linked paper to find out more.) We are singing Brahms at our 30th anniversary in part to honor the work Mary did in showcasing music by and for women, often overlooked in the choral mainstream.

Monthly Fundraising Progress – attached is the graphic depicting the funds raised as of 12/31/2023.  Thank you to everyone!
