Please join the Summer Community Chorus, hosted by Women’s Voices Chorus, on Sunday, July 19, at 4:00 p.m. at United Church of Chapel Hill for a concert of music about the joys of childhood. The choir will present music from America and Africa by contemporary composers, including female composers such as Ysaye Barnwell, Abbie Betinis, and Judith Shatin. Artistic Director Allan Friedman will lead the group in collaboration with Nancy Whelan as accompanist.

Every year, the Summer Community Chorus concert benefits a local charity. Past charities have included the Arthritis Foundation and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. This year’s show will support the Kids Summer Meals Program of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. The program provides meals to children in low-income regions during their school-free summer months. Admission to the concert is free, but donations are welcome and all proceeds will go to the food bank. United Church of Chapel Hill is located at 1321 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
